Home sleep study and sleep apnoea assessment — near me

Poor sleep affects every aspect of your health and wellbeing. If you snore heavily, wake feeling unrefreshed, or find yourself exhausted despite a full night in bed, there may be an underlying cause worth investigating. At The Doctor's Lounge we offer home sleep monitoring — a convenient, accurate way to assess your sleep and identify conditions such as obstructive sleep apnoea, without the need for an overnight hospital stay.

    The test

    What is sleep monitoring?

Sleep monitoring — also called a home sleep study or overnight sleep test — involves wearing a small, comfortable device overnight in your own bed. The device records your breathing patterns, oxygen levels, heart rate, and body position throughout the night. The data is then reviewed by one of our GPs and, where needed, discussed with a sleep specialist. This approach is far more comfortable and convenient than a traditional hospital-based sleep study, and provides highly accurate results for the diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnoea and other sleep-related breathing disorders.

    Your results

What does sleep monitoring tell us?

A sleep study can identify whether you have obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) — a condition where the airway repeatedly collapses during sleep, causing breathing to stop and start throughout the night. It can also detect hypopnoea (partial airway obstruction), oxygen desaturation, and abnormal heart rate patterns during sleep. Left untreated, sleep apnoea significantly increases the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and road traffic accidents caused by excessive daytime sleepiness. Fortunately, once diagnosed it is highly treatable.
