We work either independently or alongside your NHS GP — whichever you prefer — and will always guide you honestly on the best route for your care, whether that is privately or within the NHS.

At The Doctor's Lounge we look after patients of all ages — from newborns and young children through to grandparents. Paediatric consultations are one of our passions. We believe that building a relationship with a child's GP from an early age is one of the most valuable things a family can do for their long-term health. All of our GPs are trained in managing men's health. Dr Nik Chopra heads up the men's health section at The Doctor's Lounge. A specialist men's health consultation can be booked as a 60-minute appointment and includes a complete health discussion, clinical examination, and a personalised plan.

We generally recommend a 30-minute appointment for anything more complex than a simple urine infection, cough and cold, skin lesion, or similarly straightforward concern, so that we ensure we spend the appropriate time with you. We encourage patients to book a 30-minute appointment if they think they may need more time.
For the 20-minute consultation: choose a 30-minute consultation unless your concern is a single minor issue — such as a sore throat, urine infection, ear infection, or verruca — in which case a 20-minute appointment should suffice.

Cancellation policy
Cancellations & missed appointments
- ·A full refund will be made for any cancellation more than 4 hours before the appointment start time.
- ·Cancellations made within 4 hours of the appointment start time will be charged at 50% of the consultation fee.
- ·Appointments not attended will be charged at 100% of the appointment fee.

Can I get a same-day GP appointment at The Doctor's Lounge?
Yes. We generally aim to see patients the same day wherever possible. You are also welcome to book in advance at a time that suits you. Appointments can be booked online through our website or by calling us on 01923 988994.
How long are appointments at The Doctor's Lounge?
We offer 20, 30 and 60-minute appointments to suit different needs. We generally recommend a 30-minute appointment for most medical issues to avoid rushing, particularly if it is a new problem or you are a new patient. Extended 60-minute appointments are available for more complex cases.
Can The Doctor's Lounge refer me to a specialist?
Yes. Our GPs can refer you directly to a private specialist of your choice — or recommend one from our trusted network — without the need for an NHS referral. Where appropriate, we can also support an NHS referral pathway.
Can I get a private prescription from The Doctor's Lounge?
Yes. Private prescriptions are issued on the same day where clinically appropriate and are included in the consultation fee. We can send your prescription electronically to your preferred pharmacy.
What is the difference between a private GP and an NHS GP?
Private GP appointments offer longer consultation times, same-day availability, continuity with the same doctor, and direct access to private specialists, scans and blood tests — without the waits often associated with NHS care. We work either independently or alongside your NHS GP, whichever you prefer.
